Gab Rhome – I’ve Made The Bed For You
Next up for the Gardens of Babylon: Super smooth sounds from Gab Rhome ably supported by Francesca Lombardo, Baham, and Sorä.
Release: February 4th, 2022
The EP ‘I’ve made the bed for you’ by Gab Rhome marks the first 2022 release on the Gardens of Babylon record label. Dropping in early February, the Ep features super smooth sounds of Gab, ably supported by Francesca Lombardo, Baham, and Sorä.
Canadian sensation Gab Rhome has come a long way since breaking onto the scene in 2013 with a release on Guy Gerber’s Supplemental Facts label. Starting out as a DJ in his hometown, it wasn’t long before his natural ability was recognized and he quickly progressed onto the big leagues.
Evidently, his music is now signed to everyone from Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream to Sasha’s Last Night on Earth.
Analog feels with soft melodies
Capturing those warm analog feels with soft melodies is a trademark for Gab, who unleashes more delight with the opener ‘Iv’e made the bed for you’. Groovy hats, a swinging bassline, and sweet vocals make this a joy to hear from start to finish.
On remix duties UK-based Francesca Lombardo deepens the groove for a late-night wig out, teasing the main motifs into a darker sound. Furthermore, fellow Canadians Baham create a new atmosphere with their sparse, jazz-influenced take. Somber muted trumpets and vocal word samples take this to new heights.
Saw-toothed basslines
Moving on to their second original production: ‘Chandelier Cleaner’. The track has a disco-y bongo groove with a saw-toothed bass leading the way. Moreover, vocodered vocals midway add a nice curveball for the more refined floors. Sorä takes a whole different approach, completely reimagining the track with tinkling arps and an air of hopefulness.
