Two airports serve the Albanian Riviera. Which one you choose shapes the journey – both are beautiful in different ways.

Albania’s main international hub. Well connected from Amsterdam, London, Rome, Vienna, Istanbul and more. From here you head south along one of the most dramatic coastal roads in Europe.

Technically on a Greek island, but the closest airport to Dhërmi as the crow flies. Take the short ferry to Sarandë, then travel north up the coast. A scenic approach for those coming from Greece or the UK.

02 – Getting There
The road south
From either airport, the journey to Moyo is an experience in itself – mountains meeting sea, olive groves and hidden coves the whole way down.

Clear arrivals, grab coffee. Currency is Albanian Lek – exchange at the airport or use ATMs. Euros widely accepted everywhere.
Best Option
Private Transfer or Rental Car

Budget Option
Bus to Dhërmi
From Tirana’s Regional Bus Terminal (Dogana Roundabout – ~€15 taxi from airport), buses run to Dhërmi 3x daily via Olgeno Travel. Departs 5:30am and 1:00pm. Journey ~2.5-3 hrs. Ticket ~€5.
The Route
Tirana → Durrës → Vlorë → Dhërmi
Head west toward the coast, then south along the highway. After Vlorë the road becomes the coastal SH-8 – dramatic mountains and glimpses of the Ionian Sea. The Llogara Tunnel is now open, making the final stretch faster and smoother.

Well connected from the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Western Europe. The port is a 10-minute taxi from the airport.
The Crossing

Operators: Finikas Lines and Ionian Seaways. Up to 11 sailings daily in summer – crossing takes as little as 30 minutes. Tickets from €10-25. Book via ferryhopper.com or directly with the operator. Note: passport required – this is an international border crossing.
From Sarandë
Sarandë → Dhërmi
From the port, Dhërmi is ~1.5 hours north by taxi or local bus. The road follows the coast and climbs through the Llogara Pass – it’s winding but beautiful. We recommend Saranda Eco Taxi – electric vehicles, better prices than regular taxis. Call or WhatsApp: +355 69 606 0806.
