This sound explorer, music producer, DJ, and live performer, is one of the incredible artists performing at The Seekers of Light, our showcase series during Amsterdam Dance Event. Walashi first joined The Gardens of Babylon at our second-ever event back in 2017. She now returns to the very location where it all began, completing a full-circle moment of manifestation by performing on stage. Hailing from Syria, Walashi draws upon her ancient musical heritage and global influences to craft transformative, mystical soundscapes. Her commitment to pushing the boundaries of music and spirituality sets her apart in the electronic music world. In this exclusive interview, Walashi gives us insight into her creative process, preparation for ADE, and what to expect from her live set.
TGOB: How does your upcoming live set at The Gardens of Babylon differ from other events, and what makes it special for you?
Walashi:
This event holds a special place in my heart as I’ve been inspired by The Gardens of Babylon since its beginning. This performance is a significant opportunity for me to give back and channel the creative energy that has influenced me from this community. My upcoming live set will be distinctive as it expresses years of inspiration through dynamic improvisation and a deep connection to the audience.

TGOB: Can you share the inspiration behind your current musical style and how it has evolved over time?
Walashi:
Music is a universal language, and its spiritual essence is my core inspiration. My goal is to infuse the music I share with emotions and messages that resonate with the spirit of our times, offering moments of reflection and discovery. Over the years, as I’ve explored and embraced diverse genres and influences, I’ve refined my approach while staying true to my original intention. I remain committed to learning and growing, which continually evolves my style.
TGOB: Are there any specific moments in your set that you’re particularly excited to share with the audience at this event?
Walashi:
I’m especially excited to share some new improvisational pieces that reflect the synergy between my cultural roots and modern sound. These moments will be spontaneous, designed to create a deep connection between the music and the audience. The energy of the crowd will guide how these moments unfold.
TGOB: How do you prepare for a set at a major event like ADE? Is there a specific process or ritual you follow?
Walashi:
My preparation ritual includes setting a clear intention, collecting and designing sounds, and selecting standout tracks. Preparing for a major event like ADE involves a detailed and dedicated process. I invest hours into crafting a set, writing a story, organizing sounds, practicing, and setting up a flexible template that allows for both structure and spontaneity. Unlike DJ sets, where spontaneity rules, live sets require careful preparation but are still open to unexpected creativity, allowing the performance to flow organically.
TGOB: What do you hope the audience takes away from your set at The Gardens of Babylon?
Walashi:
At The Seekers of Light, I aim to create an experience that deeply resonates with the audience, inviting them to connect with their senses and hearts in a space of love and compassion. It’s also an invitation to enter an intimate, transcendental state. I hope to offer moments of connection and breakthrough on both personal and collective levels—all while dancing.
